Research into 3d modeling

3d modeling is used in alot of other industries than games, for example they use 3d modelling in modern arcitecture to plan out buildings on a 3d modeling program to get an idea of the structure and what it will look like a bit like blue prints.
Also the films industry use allot of 3d modeling especially the animated ones like family guy and disney movies.obviously the games industry use allot of 3d modeling.
in the games industry 3d models are made and then imported into the game, and then used as object, people and buildings.
wheras in the arcitecture industry 3d modelling is only used to create acurate blueprints of buildings in 3D.
in the arcitecture use of 3d modeling they have to be very precise as it will determane the integral structure of a real life building, so they have allot of responsabilities, whereas in games 3d modeling, allot of the time you will find that nothing is perfect and glitches, mistakes and bugs are usually coverd up and not actually fixed, as it dosnt really matter.

in the films industry it 3d modeling is used mostly in the animatin aspect and they differ from games widely as their style is normally allot more different as the films industry with uses of 3d modeling tends to have a cartoon look to it like in the 'simpsons movie' wheras is a game like 'battlefield 4' it has a very realistic look where they try to make it as real as possible but in the films idustry they dont try to make it realistic at all.

Primary Images vs Secondary Images

primary images

Are photos that are taken by you as an individual  like photographs and are not anyone's else so that the person is in complete control of what information they can take from an image.

secondary images

Are basically any image in the whole world that you have not took, like a image of the internet or out of a history book.

advantages (primary)

>you are in complete control of what you
are taking
>more reliable
>more up to date
>they are original
disadvantages (primary)

>time consuming
>can be expensive
>need a camera
>could require some skill

advantages (secondary)

>time saver
>saves money
>can look at more sources
>could have more reliability

disadvantages (secondary)

>can be out of date
>could be complicated to do
>might not have specific information
>could be fake

Film-Games-TV

Target Audience:
In the film industry the target audience starts at a range of normally 12 years old and up and there are many restrictions of what age group can watch what film. e.g. an 18 rated movie can only be viewed by those who are over the age of 18.
Where.as in the games industry the target audience is said to be set to an age rateing but most 18 plus games are played by children that are under that age. Aswell as that in the TV indusrty there are no age restrictions on tv programmes and no actual way to stop any age from viewing them but in games and film it is more controlled.

Budget:
In the games industry the budget is high, definatly a few million pounds due to the development, labour, programming, and other addutional costs that is put into makeing just one game. where.as in the film industry the budget is tens of millions of pounds due to the special effects, the locations, paying the actors, and other costs. However in the tv indrusty the budget is suprisingly lower as there is less cost of special equpiment and special effects but this also depends on the tv show if it is a reality tv show like who wants to be a millionaire it would cost allot less than a tv programme like dr who this is mainly because of the use of special effects.

Time to make:
In the tv industry the episodes are either made weekly or monthly and are produced relatively quickly as they use not many special effects and sometimes none at all, but in the film industry it takes quite a long time to produce a film as they are normally filmed in foreighn locations and use months of work on special effects. where.as in the game industry it takes quite a long time to make a game because of all of the bug fixes, beta tests, actuall creation of the animation and definition of graphics and polygons withing the characters and enviroment, for example gta 5 has been in the process of being created for over a year and has only recently came out despite the high numbers of programmers and animators on the team which shows games take a longer time to make.

sci fi

 Sci-fi mood board

This is a screen shot from fallout new Vegas which is a post apocalyptic game in which you get laser and pulse guns etc to defeat mutated monsters and robots so in a way this shows one persons representation of what the future will be like. i like this because it is a brilliant game and it shows one of the future outcomes of our world. As this game is post-apocalyptic it shows the world that it is in as a leveled wasteland where all the buildings have damage and the fact you have to salvage to make weapons and clothes. Also the actual screen itself has a darker kind of musky color to it due to the nuclear world and landscape that around you.
