evaluation for 2d animation

Evaluation-
In my 2d animation project i enjoyd makeing the animation as it was fun to learn about how to animate and learn the skills to create clips that match audio. i also really enjoyd learning about different camera angles and how to create the effect of someone speaking, by moveing their mouth in a certain way. things i think i did well are the basic drawings of people with the wacom drawing tablet, also i think i did well at the mouth movements of the characters. things i think i did not do well were, timeing the mouth movements with the audio clip and sometimes i found it hard to replicate the same character for each scene, so it often looks a little different on each scene. overall i feel asif i did well and achieved what i had planned to do on my animation.

3d modelling stuff

The main steps of building a 3D model for a game are; modeling, textureing, lighting, and rendering.
  • Modelling is the general process of actually makeing the modell of your object or character, this is one of the beignning phases of a project where you make a solid model to work with. modeling can take a while, it depends on how much detail you want to put in, the more time you spend modeling the better and more detailed it will be.
  • Texturing is the process of putting textures onto the already created 3D model, textures are basically a layer that gives the model colour and texture, this is so it actually looks like a object rather than a completly grey or colourless object. so adding textures are usually one of the final phase's as it is necessary to do.
  • Lighting is the process of adding shadeing, shadows, and depth to the modell, also it really brings more life to the object and if someone is trying to replicate a model out of a popular game or so the lighting is absolutly necessery. lighting also gibes a more lifelike feel to a model as it gives it realistic properties.
  • Rendering is the process of smoothing out the final model and it is crucial for the quality and output. also rendering has many uses in a single tool so it has multi-functionality, and is very usefull if someone was to give a presentaion of their finished product as it shows more amounts of detail and gives a fresh look to the enviroment and or model.
Level of detail is a very important part in makeing characters and enviroments for games as it defines the object alot better, if there was no detail everything in a game would look terrible. In the game industry bigger, higher up companys have great amount of detail in their games as they have more money for more programs and developers, but smaller companys will have less detail as their budget is alot lower.

  • Box modeling is a very basic way of makeing the general shape of the object you are trying to model for example you would create a objects general shape completley out of boxes before you actually started added detail and creating it. the advantages of a box model is that it is quick process which you gradually add more detail to but a disadvantage is that it is still time consuming and it can only give a certain and low amount of detail. Extrusion modeling gives abit more refined detail, but when box modeling the person normaly uses a background image as reference, but extrusion modeling starts with an almost flat shape and slowly through the process of extrusion makes a 3d detailed object, an advantage of extrusion modeling is that it has abit more detail than box modeling and disadvantage is that it takes abit longer.

my first 3d modeling software package is maya, i have used maya and it is a very detailed program with endless amounts of options, most big companys use maya to create things and assets to put in games. the advantages of maya is that it is a huge program with lots of differnt options and you can do pretty much anything on it to help with the development of a game and that it is good for character rigs. the disadvantage is that it takes a lot of skill to use this program so it is quite a difficult program to use if youve never used it before.

my other 3d modeling software package is 3ds max which is also made by autodesk but has a few diffenernces than maya like the interface is quite different and is used more is enviroments than creation of characters. again most big companys can afford this software and use it to its full potential. An advantage is that it works really well if you are creating enviroments, as it has a vast choice of tools to use but a disadvantage is that it isnt very good at makeing character rigs and that it cant handle a higher level of complexity than maya.

evaluation for pencil and pen art attempts.

I have done 2 pieces of work one that is pencil the other that is pen and they are in my sketchbook, honestly i think that my piece of work that i did in pen which was an attempt to re create slavador dali's (elephants), was allot better than my piece of work done in pencil. i have never been a very good artist but i did try my best and produced 2 pieces of work which are differnet medias. i feel as if i did well at copying the style of salvador dali in my pieces of work, but what i didnt do well is do it with allot of detail as i lack the skills to do so.

brainstorms, bullet points, initial concepts

Brainstorms are used to put ideas and sub ideas on paper so you can refer back to it for more ideas, they are clever ways of putting down points but a weakness would be that they are abit messy and sometimes hard to read. also with a brainstorm it is a very easy way of puting ideas down on paper and it can be messy and informal. bullet points are used to draw attention to a points quickly and effectivley, aswell as that, unlike brainstorms bullet points only focus on key information, where as brainstorms have every possible bit of information whether it be key or not.

brainstroms can be used to generate ideas very well because almost every possible idea is put down on paper to refer back to when ever it is needed. bullet points generate ideas well because they show the main ideas and the important ones, so there is no waste information which isnt considerd as needed.

reference in art and design

In art and design reference is an important part of how good a piece of work is, many artists use reference it is almost like building a house, you wouldnt build a house without plans would you? well its the same concept in art and design and many inexperianced artists forget this aspect as the more reference is done and worked on the better the art or design will be. for example with this 3D model of a camera the person who made this would not have done this from just memory alone, they would have used pictures of the real thing as reference to make their work more accurate.
Gothic drawings and art show a very dark almost jagged form and have a corralation between each other, being that they are portrayed to be very symetrical and have mass amounts of detail in them. Also chruches started to incorprate gothic styles into the build and fabricating of their churches.

Renaissance is another example of how an art style influenced a cluture or a religion. renaissance influenced religion when artists in italy which

very often mythology can influence art and design such as greek mythology influencing lots of art. for example bottacelli's famous art piece La nascita di Venere which is derived from greek mythology.alsolots of other myths and stories have influenced art in many ways. such as the picture below which shows many illistrations of greek mythology done by an artist.

ARTISTS

Salvador Dali:

I enjoy Salvador Dial's work because it is weirdly surreal and very interesting. You always see something different every time you look at one of his paintings, like pictures in shadows, foreground and background, and in general there are hidden faces and relevant objects everywhere.

This is an exaample of some concept work for fallout 3 which was done by Adam Adamowicz who also did art for skyrim aswell as fallout new vegas and fallout 3. but this is some rough work from fallout 3 that he did.

this is some more work he did for skyrim that is awesome concept art by the same guy. in my opinion the work here is at a very proffesional standard and shows allot of detail added which has been encorprated into the game
